A total of nine excellence award categories (including new categories Sustainability and Not for Profit Business) drew a large number of entries for this year's competition.
Yet again, text and email voting was incredibly popular with thousands of votes received for the publicly nominated Customer Choice category in both towns (Empire Espresso Bar, Te Awamutu and Red Cherry Cafe, Cambridge). Organisers were inundated with votes from loyal customers.

A succession of mystery shopping judges over the past six months resulted in awards for Best Customer Service in retail, trade, manufacturing and professional business sectors in the district.

Overall Winner: Customer Service, Waipa District, Churchills Cafe Te Awamutu
This year the Awards also celebrated 'Employee of the Year' for both towns, to acknowledge the huge contribution individual staff have to a business. Nominated by their employers, Anthony Kahura of Guthrie Bowron, Te Awamutu and Ian Harris of Red Cherry Cafe Cambridge scooped these inaugural awards.

Cambridge and Te Awamutu Chambers of Commerce congratulate all finalists and winners, and thank the Awards sponsors for their commitment. Awards Convenor, Chris Smith said: "Congratulations to Capelli Hair Studio on their success. The two Chambers of Commerce are very proud of this, our premier business event of the year. It's a great opportunity for all businesses within Waipa, no matter how large or small, to receive recognition for their achievements, and celebrate contributions that individual businesses have made to Waipa, with winners benefiting from prestige, profile and recognition. We're already looking forward to next year's event!"
