WHY SHOULD I ENTER?

Entering the Awards provides you with valuable insight into your business and the chance to network with other successful business people. 

The Awards aim to encourage and support businesses in their quest for success through sustainability, innovation, leadership, and excellence. Any business, of any size, located across the Waipa District is eligible to enter.

Reshaping of the 2023 Waipa Networks Business Awards Categories will better reflect business issues and strategies during 2022-2023. It is an opportunity to reflect on the challenges overcome in the previous months and to celebrate the outstanding achievements and resilience shown throughout the Waipa business community. 

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO ENTER?

How long it takes you depends on how easy it is for you to gather the information needed, but the best entries are clear and precise, bullet points are acceptable. A well-presented submission is expected within the online entry form, but expensive printing and binding, or novelty presentation of entries is not required. The process of entering is usually helpful for your business so time is well invested.

HOW DO I ENTER?

Entries open Wednesday 12 October 2022 and close on Sunday 19 February 2023.

IS THERE SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP ME?

The Cambridge Business Chamber will be available for workshop sessions with businesses. 

Sessions will be announced when available. These will be scheduled between 12 October 2022- 19 February 2023.

DOES IT COST ME TO ENTER?

There is a small entry fee for the Business Excellence and Employee of the Year categories.
Please see the Entry Guidelines for details.

Leader of the Year category is free to enter.

Tickets to the awards night are additional and are available to purchase - details to be announced.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I’M ELIGIBLE TO ENTER?

Any sole proprietor, partnership, incorporated society, Limited Liability Company, educational institution, local or central government organisation, charitable or not for profit organisation, with its principal place of business based and trading in the Waipa District or within the greater surrounding boundaries administered by the Cambridge Business Chamber or Te Awamutu Chamber of Commerce is eligible to enter the awards.

An organisation that is part of a larger national or international organisation must be able to demonstrate that it operates as a separate business unit.

Excluded are those businesses or organisations owned by officers or employees of the category sponsor.

DO I HAVE TO INCLUDE MY BUSINESSES FINANCIAL DETAILS?

We request you include supporting documentation/evidence when submitting your entry. This could include general financial overview - possibly showing changes as percentages rather than actual numbers, performance reports, strategic/ operational plans, examples of quality process or regulatory forms, data tables, graphs, images (.jpg or .eps) or other forms of media (video, sound bites, etc.).

WHEN DO I FIND OUT IF I HAVE WON?

All Entrants are notified and finalists and winners will be announced at the Awards Evening at Mystery Creek on Friday 21 April 2023.

HOW MANY CATEGORIES CAN I ENTER?

  • You may enter one Business Excellence category only
  • In addition, at time of judging your entry will be consider for the Category Awards: Community Contribution, Innovation and Adaptation, Digital Strategy and E-Commerce, Waste Minimisation - Environmental or Contribution to Tourism or Hospitality.
  •  We strongly encourage you to complete your submission with information and as many sections as possible. 
  • You may make submissions in the Employee of the Year and/or Leader of the Year - these are stand-alone awards and will be judged on their own merits.
  • The Supreme Award will be chosen by our judges from one of the four Excellence in Business Award winners after judging and finalist visit occur.
  • Judges have the right to change entrants into whichever category they consider better suited to the entrant. Entrants will be consulted prior to any change.

HOW DO I KNOW THAT THE INFORMATION I PROVIDE WON’T GET INTO THE HANDS OF MY COMPETITORS OR OTHERS?

The entries are only seen by the co-ordinator of the Awards and the judging panel. All of the people in these roles are ethical professionals and have also signed a confidentiality agreement.

CAN I RE-ENTER IF I WAS A WINNER LAST YEAR?

Absolutely, you are welcome to re-enter the awards. However Supreme Winners are not eligible for the Supreme Award in the year immediately following their win.

WHERE CAN I BUY TICKETS & HOW MUCH ARE THEY?

TICKETS are now on sale for the Awards Celebration in 2023. 

Individual Tickets are $155.25 (incl GST) and can be purchased as a table of up to 10.

Mystery Creek Events Centre  is the Venue Partner for the 2023 Awards Presentation Evening.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE AWARDS EVENING?

Dress to the nines! The Awards Evening is an opportunity to dress up. It's a formal event  - Evening dresses for the ladies and suits for the men (or go on, rock a tuxedo!)
